Fairmont Pacific Rim Five Course Cocktail Brunch
I had the pleasure of joining three fellow foodies for the 'Five Course Cocktail Brunch' at The Fairmont Pacific Rim Hotel recently. With a twist on the traditional, this Japanese inspired brunch combines breakfast favourites with sushi staples. You also have the option to make it a 'cocktail brunch' with their perfectly paired cocktails at an additional cost.
The 'Five Course Cocktail Brunch' is served from 11-2pm, Saturday & Sundays in the Raw Bar/Lobby Lounge of the sophisticated & modern Fairmont Pacific Rim Hotel.

Five Course Cocktail Brunch Menu:
First Course consists of 2 options:
Red Tuna Tataki or Torched Wagyu Beef Salad.
We ordered both items to have a taste of each. The Wagyu Beef was good but I loved the Red Tuna Tataki. The yuzu vinaigrette & perfectly seasoned tuna was the winner for me.
Deliciously prepared Red Tuna Tataki.
The second course:
Signature Bacon & Sable Miso.
This is seriously the best Miso soup I have ever had. The broth is a bacon dashi, with house cured sable fish, ginger and scallion. Don't let my 'uninspiring' photo fool you. This was amazing!!
Third Course option:
Kurobuta Pork Belly Kakuni or Wild Salmon Motoyaki Benny.
Again we ordered one of each. The Kurobuta Pork Belly was very tender, and accompanied with a 62 degree egg, root vegetables, all in a sweet soy broth with a bowl of tamanishiki rice on the side.
The Wild Salmon Benny was not only delicious, but beautifully presented with a perfectly poached egg, sweet milk bread, ikura, miso hollandaise and avocado. It's almost too pretty to eat.
I really enjoyed both dishes so you can't go wrong with either in my opinion.
Kurobuta Pork Belly Kakuni
Wild Salmon Motoyaki Benny.
Fourth Course:
Sushi Omakase.
The chef's selection of sushi was the perfect way to finish off our meal before the dessert course.
Fish used for the Omakase is prepared with the freshest fish available and therefore may change daily.
Fifth Course:
Yakult Shooter.
Lastly, the dessert. - Plum gelee, pear, matcha green tea, black sesame powder, and yuzu pearls. This was okay and my least favourite of all the dishes. Nonetheless, it's a creative approach to present the dessert in oyster shells.
The 5 Course Cocktail Brunch is $42 per person plus an additional $28 if you choose the cocktail pairing. Overall I throughly enjoyed the brunch and highly recommend it. The portions are generous and service is always top notch. Reservations are recommended.
