Amorino - Gelato al Naturale
We found Amorino while walking around the Saint Germain des Pres area of Paris after dinner on the first night of our trip. I was so full, but after walking into the shop I told my hubby we had to go back. When we returned, I made sure I had enough room for some gelato :)
They had so many flavours and choices that it was hard to decide. Once you choose the size of cone (they come in classic (x-small?), small, and large) they let you choose as many flavours as you want! I opted for a small cone with pistachio, dark chocolate, and orange grapefruit. The chocolate and pistachio were so creamy and true to taste, and the orange grapefruit was really refreshing. They sculpt it into an amazing bouquet of gelato, have you ever seen such a beautiful thing?
Amorino was started back in 2002 by two childhood friends. Cristiano Sereni and Paola Benassi. They have had great success opening stores all over Europe and North America. They are known for their great, all natural flavours.
Our objective is to make the highest quality gelato as naturally as possible with no artificial colours or flavourings
They also make macaron but I didn't get to try them this trip! Definitely next time.
Before we left Paris, we were walking along in Jardin des Tuileries and what do we see? Amorino on wheels! It was fate - and gave me a chance to try some of the flavours I didn't get to try last time. I went with the classic cone with raspberry, citron, and milk chocolate. Sooooooo yum.
This is definitely, by far, the best gelato I've ever had. I hope that one day they open a location in Vancouver! Or maybe not.. that might not be so good for my weight or my wallet :)
